{"id":1408,"date":"2004-10-14T04:31:44","date_gmt":"2004-10-14T04:31:44","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/amrani.cc\/wp\/?p=1408"},"modified":"2004-10-14T04:31:44","modified_gmt":"2004-10-14T04:31:44","slug":"2004-10-14-scowcroft-on-bush-and-sharon-html","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/amrani.cc\/wp\/?p=1408","title":{"rendered":"Scowcroft on Bush and Sharon"},"content":{"rendered":"<div data-src=\"v5\">That wishy-washy liberal,<a href=\"http:\/\/news.ft.com\/cms\/s\/7f1575fa-1d62-11d9-abbf-00000e2511c8.html\">Brent Scowcroft<\/a>, tells the Financial Times what he thinks of the relationship between Bush and Sharon:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>But speaking to the FT, Mr Scowcroft, 79, went a step further in<br \/>attacking some of the president&#8217;s core foreign policies. &#8220;Sharon<br \/>just has him wrapped around his little finger,&#8221; Mr Scowcroft<br \/>said. &#8220;I think the president is mesmerised.&#8221;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<blockquote><p>&#8220;When there is a suicide attack (followed by a reprisal) Sharon<br \/>calls the president and says, &#8216;I&#8217;m on the front line of<br \/>terrorism&#8217;, and the president says, &#8216;Yes, you are. . . &#8216; He (Mr<br \/>Sharon) has been nothing but trouble.&#8221;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<blockquote><p>Mr Scowcroft also cast doubt on Mr Sharon&#8217;s plan to withdraw from<br \/>the Gaza Strip, which last week Dov Weisglass, a leading Israeli<br \/>adviser, said was intended to prevent the emergence of a<br \/>Palestinian state.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<blockquote><p>&#8220;When I first heard Sharon was getting out of Gaza I was having<br \/>dinner with Condi (Rice) and she said: &#8216;At least that&#8217;s good<br \/>news.&#8217; And I said: &#8216;That&#8217;s terrible news . . .
