{"id":935,"date":"2006-05-27T20:04:46","date_gmt":"2006-05-27T20:04:46","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/amrani.cc\/wp\/?p=935"},"modified":"2006-05-27T20:04:46","modified_gmt":"2006-05-27T20:04:46","slug":"2006-5-27-statement-by-the-tora-detainees-html","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/amrani.cc\/wp\/?p=935","title":{"rendered":"Statement by the Tora detainees"},"content":{"rendered":"<div data-src=\"v5\">\n<blockquote><p><\/p>\n<p align=\"left\"><strong>Statement by Detainees in Tora Prison<\/strong><strong><\/p>\n<p><\/strong><strong>Released 27 May 2006<\/p>\n<p><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>We, the detained in Tora Prison, charged of insulting the president and blocking the traffic, condemn police violence, the kidnap and torture of our colleagues Mohamed el-Sharkawy and Karim el-Sha\u00e2\u20ac\u2122er, and condemn the complicity of the Regime Security Prosecution (formerly known as State Security Prosecution).<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>\u00c2\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p align=\"left\">The regime has now two agents of torture: the State Security police and the State Security prosecution, which is the regime\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s tool in oppressing and torturing the opposition, which has previously closed the files of all torture cases, and which has blocked the examination of Mohamed el-Sharakawy by forensic medicine in the hope that the signs of torture would resolve.<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p align=\"left\">The regime\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s resort to thuggery is evidence of its weakness, and shows how close we are to the day when we rid ourselves from it, the day of Egypt\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s liberation. Our continued detention proves the regime\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s fear and terror of people\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s opposition to its corruption, dictatorship and its systematic destruction of the country.<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p align=\"left\"><strong>We announce the beginning of an open escalating hunger strike until our demands are met:<\/p>\n<p><\/strong><strong>1. Examination of our colleagues by forensic medicine<\/p>\n<p><\/strong><strong>2. Investigation into the kidnap and torture of our colleagues, bringing State Security officers involved to justice and exposure of the complicity of the prosecution and its crime of closing torture cases and refusing forensic medical examination of the injured.<\/p>\n<p><\/strong><strong>3.
