  1. At least some manage to keep their sanity in this madness. remember that peace now breaktrough came in the aftermath of the Lebanon campaign of the summer 1982 , hopefully we will see a revival for the peace camp in Israel in the wake of this insanity, and a true political vision towards peace in the Israeli society again.

  2. The person on the picture is actually an activist from the Israeli Anarchists Against the Wall (I had the pleasure of working with them as an ISM activist in Palestine). It is a radical direct action group that almost daily take direct action against the occupation. Luckily they are not part of a “peace camp” only, they are staunch anti-Zionists. It was the second intifada that provided the context for the emergence of this group, and a more pro-acive refusenik movement.

I also hope that this mess will revive the peace camp in Israel, though one that is more critical of Zionism than groups like Peace Now etc.

  3. Where are the Arab anti-war protests? You like posting these pictures but at least there ARE Israeli anti-war activists.

Wish I could say the same about the Arab street.

  4. I believe that this picture just proves that it doesn’t matter what background you come from human’s will always turn on their own. I believe we see it every day in the middle east ie: the homicide bomber who killed 54 muslims in Iraq. We see it in the United States with 13 murders in DC in 14 days it doesn’t matter evil is as evil does, Satan is alive and well and working around the world you need only watch the first 5 minutes of any newcast anywhere in the world.

  5. Egypeter: You’re an idiot.

For the same reason you don’t see any black South Africans denouncing violence against Afrikaaners.

By the way, their were Palestinian anti-violence protestors. Their demonstrations were met with violence.

  6. No, Egypeter’s comments are right on spot. We will only have peace when we SEE the Palestinians protesting this whole business from start to end.

The “black” South Africans curbed their own extremists and their own advocates of violence effectively. Had they not there would never had been a compromise and an end to Apartheid. The Afrikaners and other “white” South Africans would have held on…

  7. Egypter and Lorenzo you guys are very wong. There are Palestinian protests nearly every day in Palestine. But you’re right about one thing Lorenzo, they are not “seen” but ignored by almost everyone and especially the Israeli street. Violence is only a minority strategy, but for obvious reasons it gets all the attention and Israel is always trying to violently suppress any non-violent resistance.
