Al-Masry Al-Youm reported yesterday that the Ministry of Religious Endowements, Mubarak’s arm in the religious establishment, has drafted a proposal for a new law banning demos and “gatherings” in mosques. The proposed penalties for “breaking the law” would be either three months in jail, a minimum LE500 fine, or both.

Did they blow up / burn anything? (If not, I don’t see why there would be a law against their gathering peacefully, if noisily).

it was a program on the danish tv showing a youth club showing a competition who makes the most fun of the prophet and the best would get a prize . they were shown on the channel2 , having a good laugh , showing the prophet as a drunk, as a terrorist et.. that s what the tv said .
the program was shown on August but the danish TV showed it again 2 weeks ago and that s when it got noticed . (august got unnoticed so the Danish tv repeated it to get a reaction . )
If it was just a youth club doing this it would’ve been better… But it was in fact the youth wing of the Danish People’s Party (Dansk Folkeparti, represented in parliament and pretty influential) that had this show/competition during their summer camp or general assembly.
The footage was actually recorded by a person who had joined the youth party to expose its racism. The youth party did not want this type of footage to be aired. In the first context it was aired it was basically to show how racist this party is.
I guess I have to start hiding the fact that I am Norwegian again, as I am sure someone in Norway will air the footage.
