Finally!!!! Gitmo detainees to get Geneva Conventions protection

The US has admitted that all detainees held by the military, including those at Guantanamo, should be treated in accordance with the Geneva Conventions.

Aywa! Finally! This is great news! Really great!… Let’s hope the Gulag would be shut down soon, and the illegal renditions to end…
Check this funny animation I found on zazou’s blog.

  1. Well, in theory yes. But despite the rumours, Egypt did not sign the Geneva Convention. A diplomatic source of mine confirmed to me that the Egyptian delegation, at the time of the signing, were disguised as, and signed under the name of, the Planet Zo7al delegation. Egypt signed only the Lazoughli Convention, and later endorsed the Gaber Ibn Hayan Convention. These conventions guarantee so many rights to detainees, like the right of the detainee to suspend himself from the ceiling whenever he wants; the right to apply electric shocks only to the left (not right) ball of the prisoners, and so many other rights that trouble-makers like you 3alaa never got to appreciate… and instead you want to adopt “foreign” conventions like Geneva! Shame on you dude! Stick with el-kheyyar el-istratijy el-masri…

  2. Well at least we can tell the EU not to bother looking on Planet Zo7al for the rendition prisons. Though I heard on Fox that Zarqawi’s ghost has been recruiting there…

  3. About damn time! Cannot tell you what an embarassment all this has been. And then there is this tiny little detail: article 6 of the US Constitution makes all international treaties signed and ratified “the Law of the Land.” Yup, that’s right. Bush, Gonzales, Rumsfeld and Yoo have all violated the Constitution. I say render them and then impeach them. And after that, try them for war crimes somewhere.
