No more freedom for fries, or so Congress has decreed. The congressmen who backed the original name-change are not commenting, but I wonder if the right-wing bloggers who backed the name change against cheese-eating surrender monkeys will not take up the cause.

But per the BBC, the Senate cafeteria never actually changed over from “French” in the first place (it was only the House side). Chardonnay-sipping, tree-hugging, NPR-listening elitists!

In Egypt, fries are known as the rather French-sound “patatis” (with ma’li, fried, often added on). Here in Iraq, however, they are known as the slightly baffling phrase “finger chips”, which I suppose is some relic of British colonialism. I think the Congress should start calling them that. Give them the finger, chips.
