Fifty two civil servants and workers are currently on a sit-in at the Ain Shams University Campus, after the administration’s decision to cut down their basic monthly salary from LE220 (US$38) to LE134 (US$23.3), according to Kefaya’s website.
The workers tried without success to meet the University’s dean, so they went on strike, and are refusing to leave the campus despite threats from the security.
even if the government readjust pay to 220LE- helloooo how on earth are these people staying alive on 220LE/month? If the government won’t help then can the fat cats and thin cats come to think of it employ these people and the thousands unemployed in egypt?
are there any strings people on here can pull? Is there some initiative that could be started to employ these people?
actually i need to retract the above statement about fat cats. We can all help- we don’t have to be millionaires to help. the poorest of us here is a fat cat relative to the general population of egypt. We rant about poverty in egypt and if the government isn’t prepared to help well how about the citizens help each other out. Most people on here are fluent in english- how about giving free teaching sessions to kids/adults who who can’t afford lessons. who wouldn’t welcome such an opportunity? That would be great, wouldn’t it- they would get taught proper english which could help them get a decent job later on and support their family or it could just save their family some money if they are already paying for something.
anymore ideas? they don’t have to be ground breaking- every little helps guys
