I am hearing that a couple of days ago, when Gamal Mubarak was hosting his Geel al-Mustaqbal (Future Generation) NGO iftar, he urged young people to fight against the phenomenon of wasta, i.e. connections used to get jobs or favors.
I say lead by example.
He is shameless!
How do you say “cojones” in Masri?
That is so rich, I cannot even respond.
Mashi, ya Gamal. Now rescind your AUC degree, try to get admission to Cairo U or Helwan, are your grades good enough? No? Well, you’ll just have to study botany or mathematics. When you graduate you can go to work as a teacher and spend the next six years scraping by, living with your parents, till that job in the Gulf turns up. Feel like you’re wasting your youth? Get yourself some recreational drugs to take your mind off things but never, ever give in to the temptation of using wusta. Amen.
SP2.. haha, that was brilliant.
wasta is now the way we survive and do our stuff that we wnt to finish
its so imbaressing that this is how our life became in Egypt
