Just read Ellen’s article on harassment in Egypt. Thanks for the link. One thing she didn’t mention and which I’m wondering about (in the context of ‘increased veiling leads to increased harassment) is something I’ve heard from two sources: that the new policy in Egyptian public schools is that the veil is a mandatory part of the uniform for girls, whether Muslim or Christian. Does anyone know if this is true or not? My sources are pretty good, but not infallible, and I’ve not seen this anywhere else.
