So not only does White House spokesman Tony Snow (a former fake journalist for Fox News) describe one of the greatest journalists in America (she’s met every president since Truman, has tons of awards, etc.) as a Hezbullah supporter, but he also thinks the US is powerless to stop Israel. Hmm Helen “crazy lady” Thomas a great journalist, she is a hack always has been. She has been a shill for the Democratic party since Kennedy. Tony Snow while conservative “thank god” has been an honest journalist. the beauty of Fox news that you seem to miss is they are honest about where they stand politically, they have someone from the right and someone from the left and just because the left wing look like idiots is no fault of Fox. They look stupid because their arguments are bereft of any morality. The US is not in the business of stopping Israel for taking out terrorists on its borders and this American is grateful for a President who will let them do what they feel necessary in that they are a Democracy. We need not tell anyone nor should anyone tell us how to respond to Islamic Extremism, each country will have to find their own way.
Having worked at the New York Times in Washington and thus knowing many journalists on all sides of the aisle, I no noone, from the Washington Times to the Washington Post, who thinks Helen Thomas is a hack. She is a highly respected journalist who has been one of the few to even question or press the president and his representatives. Tony Snow, on the other hand, has used the only tool the administration has been able to find to deal with legitimate criticism or just questioning- discredit the person saying it. Snow equates Thomas with Hezbollah supporter. Cheney et al. leaked Valerie Plame’s CIA cover to discredit her husband because he was critical of the president’s policy. To buy into this technique is in fact to destroy the ablity to practice democracy. Democracy is not a given, it is not static, it is a process that must be practiced every day.
Typical childish “you’re with us or with the terrorists” snipe. But what do you expect from someone like Snow?
