Orascom raided

US and Iraqi security forces today raided the Baghdad home of two Egyptian employees of an Iraqi mobile phone company belonging to Egypt’s telecommunications giant Orascom, Dina Abu Neda, a spokeswoman for Orascom Telecom, said. She said thousands of US dollars were confiscated from the men’s home.

  1. Odd that no reason was given. If it was the insurgents, I would’ve assumed it was just a mad cash dash, but Iraqi authorities and US forces making a move against important infrastructure???

    I can’t help but speculate:

    a) Could there be, say, a Jordanian or Saudi carrier who wants to step in, and these raids are meant to scare Orascom out of Iraq?

    b) Is this linked to Beshara in some way?

    c) Are the people involved with Orascom in Iraq being accused of collobrating with the resistence in some way, shape or form?
